ERAS IDProtect is only concerned with one thing: protecting the identities of research subjects.

Let us take care of that for you so you can focus on the rest of your research study.

ERAS IDProtect creates a unique ERAS ID number (EID) linked to each research subject. Whenever possible, ERAS communicates with the organizations providing data using this EID rather than PII. The researchers are only given data with EIDs, never with PII.

Additionally, ERAS IDProtect uses multiple safegaurds to keep all data with PII secure.

Secure Transferring of Data

ERAS uses Box to safely transfer files with extended security protocols, including encryption in transfer with high-grade TLS and multi-layered encryption at rest with 256-bit AES. Box data centers utilize biometric entry authentication, closed-circuit video monitoring and 24/7 armed guards.

Data Encryption

ERAS uses Sookasa to supplement Box and further protect data with robust file-level encryption. The encryption keys needed to read the files are always kept and shared separately from the actual files. Using Box with Sookasa provides end-to-end encryption to ensure that files are protected while on the cloud, and as soon as the files have been transferred, they are removed from the cloud.

 Secure File Storage

ERAS only stores data with PII on password-protected computers with ESET Smart Security firewall, antivirus and anti-phishing protection installed. Upon completion of the project, ERAS permanently destroys all data from these computers.

ERAS works with each client to customize a data security plan that meets the needs of a particular study, balancing data security with convenience.
